Celebrate EveryDay

Sep 24, 2021

“This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” (Psalm 118:24 ESV)

Today is my birthday, and while I don’t necessarily love getting older, I love celebrating!

I love getting together with family and friends to have fun, and  I don’t mind the occasional gift :)

Even better, this day reminds me that God has graciously given me 5-__ (you guess it…😜) years to live, learn, and celebrate his goodness.

1 Corinthians 13:11-12

When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child.  When I became a (woman), I put childish ways behind me.  Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face.  Now I know in part;  then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

So, although I am not so excited about my body getting older, I do want my spirit to mature. I want to grow in my relationship with God.  I want to grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus.

I don’t want to stay the same!  I want God to continue to grow, change, and mold me. I don’t want to look over my shoulder, thinking about the past and the mistakes I’ve made.  I don’t want to make the same mistakes year after year, but I want to learn from them and overcome them.

I know God is doing a new thing in me each year.  I want to take care of the body that He has given me by keeping myself healthy, and I want to look forward to what God is doing in me and through me today.  This year, I want to take the wisdom God has given me and make the right choices.

Forgetting what is behind and straining what is ahead, I press on toward the goal…

James 1:18 NLT

“He chose to give birth to us by giving us his true word. And we, out of all creation, became his prized possession.”

God found us worthy of creation! We have a purpose, and that alone is worthy of celebration.

Our value doesn’t decrease with age. We are fearfully and wonderfully made in His image. That’s why we should celebrate!

So whether you are 18 or 98...

Find a small way to celebrate each day. Put on your favorite song and sing out loud! Dance! Give yourself that special treat. You may even take a walk/ jog around the block (because you can and are able…)!

Or you can even share the celebration and surprise a friend with a coffee or lunch. Write a love note to your husband. Take your kids somewhere fun!

Be creative, have fun, and remember the reason for the celebration that surrounds you daily. Turn your ordinary days into extraordinary celebrations.

Thank you, Lord, for the gift of life.  Help us to see the true miracles you have given us, and may we never grow complacent in our lives. You, and all you create, are always worthy of celebration.

Don't miss a beat!
